/\ucifer

The manga/animation Kaikan Phrase by Maya Shinjo gave birth to the real life band /\ucifer--Makoto (vocals), Yuki (guitar), Atsuro (guitar), Towa (bass) and Santa (drums). /\ucifer made their debut in Japan on September 15, 1999 with the single "Datenshi Blue", the theme song from Kaikan Phrase. Except for Makoto, the rest of the band members bear the character names from the original anime. The member's images are similar to the images potrayed in the anime; e.g. hair colour, fashion sense, etc. Shown in Japan on Tokyo TV on Tuesdays, [Kaikan Phrase] is about a J-rock band with a handsome leading guy named Sakuya, the lead singer of the band /\ucifer (who is represented by Makoto in the real life band). /\ucifer is the French pronounciation of the word Lucifer (the fallen angel, Satan). The character "/\" is Greek for the letter "L".

Popular magazines like the Oricon's The Ichiban, Areana 37oC, PopBeat (Feb & May 2000 & Jan & Feb 2001 Issues) and PATiPATi had all featured ?ucifer on their covers. Other magazines like Backstage Pass, Junon, Popolo, Myojo, Winkup, etc., feature articles of ?ucifer every month. /\ifer also has a regular radio spot on FM Osaka, every Wednesday, named [SPARK ENERGY]. Makoto himself has a radio program every Tuesday night on FM FUJI called Private Fusion (It was formerly only a 1/2 hour slot, but it has been extended to an 1 hour show from April 4th 2000). /\ucifer also had several TV and radio guests appearances on different TV networks and radio stations.
